The Goddess Artemis is known as the Protector of Animals and from my own personal experience the Goddess also assists Animals when it is their time to cross over to the "Rainbow Bidge". The Goddess works to protect all Animals, not just those that are Wild and holds Dogs as Sacred Gifts within her Heart.
